Communal Penance Services are one way to celebrate the Sacrament of Penance (Reconciliation).
A Communal Penance Service includes prayer, scripture and a time for reflection as well as an opportunity for private confession and absolution with a priest.
Because there are usually a number of priests present, participants may choose the priest they wish to confess to; however, because time is limited in this format, a Communal Penance Service is not ideal if you have serious concerns or questions you wish to discuss at length with a priest.
You are welcome to participate in a Communal Penance Service even if you are unable to go to confession.
