Presenters and participants alike appreciate the relaxed and informal atmosphere which contributes to a stimulating combination of presentation and discussion. Community Forum Presentations are open to the public. No pre-registration is required.

Learning Forgiveness
The Discussion
Forgiveness doesn't just happen. It is neither an elusive goal or an impossible change of heart. You can actually learn to forgive yourself or another person following a deliberate process which unfolds gradually over time. This process begins with an initial injury, an unfair or undeserved hurt, and proceeds step-by-step, toward healing, reconciliation and freedom from pain. In this Forum Len Froyen, co-author of "Gateways to Forgiveness", will discuss what is necessary to learn forgiveness, why it's important, and how you can use the process by which we can learn forgiveness.
The Presenter
Dr. Len A. Froyen is emeritus professor of educational psychology at the University of Northern Iowa, where he taught courses in learning and developmental psychology. He has served as a mentor for couples preparing for marriage and a counselor for persons in troubled marriages. In these instances, his counsel is rooted in contemplative Christian spirituality and incrementally directed problem solving. His interest in forgiveness is an outgrowth of advanced study in counseling psychology and his work with students seeking help with distressing relationship situations. Dr./ Froyen is also the author of Gratitude--Affirming One Another Through Stories (Parkhurst Brothers Publishing, 2013). He and his wife Gail are residents of Cedar Falls and members of St. Stephen the Witness Catholic Student Center where Len serves as a permanent deacon.
