Are you angry about some church-related issue? Have you been embarrassed, hurt or rejected by someone representing the Catholic Church? ... Has your present marital status left you estranged or unwelcome in the Church? ... Are you participating in another church but still feel that “I’m a Catholic and I’ll always be a Catholic.” ... Would you like someone to listen to the events, people or circumstances which have shaped your relationship or alienation from the Catholic Church?
Our listening sessions for inactive, alienated, discouraged and former Catholics are an opportunity to discuss your past, present or future relationship to the Catholic faith community in a safe, discrete, and welcoming environment. We’re here to listen, not to judge. If there is some way we can be helpful to you in your present spiritual circumstance, we will arrange whatever additional help or assistance you desire as a follow up to the listening session.
Because faith is a living relationship between an individual, God, and the faith community, it grows and changes as the individual grows and changes. At different times in our lives, and for a variety of reasons, individuals may find themselves searching for a deeper sense of faith or a more engaging relationship with God and with a faith community or parish. People who feel like they are "losing" their faith may actually be growing; the same is often true for individuals who describe themselves as "spiritual but not religious."
Our listening sessions for spiritual seekers are an opportunity for explore the stages or levels of faith which are common among adults and young adults, and to discuss how individuals can respond to the challenges and opportunities of growing faith.

These discussions are open to gay or lesbian Catholics and former Catholics who want to discuss their past, present or future relationship to the Catholic Church in a safe, nonjudgmental atmosphere. The purpose of the discussion is not to debate the Church's teaching on homosexuality but to explore how gay and lesbian persons can embrace their sexual orientation and continue practicing their Catholic faith.
Individuals and family members are always welcome to meet privately with one of the pastors or a member of the faith formation team. For information about a private meeting, contact Dave Cushing at 319-233-0498 or email dbqwcaf@dbqarch.org.
